San Mateo County Aging & Disability Resource Connection’s mission is to provide a coordinated and equitable information and referral system for older adults and individuals with disabilities to help navigate available long-term services and support systems to promote personal choices and self-determination.
Center for Independence (CID) of Individuals with Disabilities
The Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities (CID) is a non-profit Independent Living Center incorporated in 1979. We are one of 29 Independent Living Centers throughout the state. We are a consumer-driven, community-based services and advocacy organization serving people with disabilities in San Mateo County.

Senior Mobility Guide
Compiled by the San Mateo County Transit District’s Accessible Transit Services team, this comprehensive guide is beneficial to seniors, veterans, and persons with disabilities who prefer not to drive, are unable to drive, or want to be prepared for “what if’s” and future transition. The guide includes transportation resources available via public transit, paratransit services, city sponsored programs, community/senior center programs, veterans programs, membership programs, as well as private pay services.
Help at Home Directory
Help at Home is a mini-reference guide published by the San Mateo County Commission on Aging. This guide contains a wide variety of information designed to assist San Mateo County adults of all incomes in finding local resources related to aging, dementia care, hospice, food and clothing, mental health and other services to remain safely in their homes.
Community Information Handbook
This handbook is compiled by the County of San Mateo Human Services Agency that lists information on over 1,200 non-profit agencies, government programs, and community organizations. A printed copy can be picked up at local centers, or you can request for a printed copy to be mailed to you. English and Spanish editions are available online.
Peninsula Library System
The Peninsula Library System (PLS) is a consortium of public and community college libraries working together to provide innovative and cost-effective service to their users. Founded in 1971, the system is a Joint Powers of Agreement and is funded primarily by member libraries: Burlingame Public Library, Daly City Public Library, Menlo Park Public Library, Redwood City Public Library, San Bruno Public Library, San Mateo County Libraries, San Mateo Public Library, South San Francisco Public Library, and the San Mateo County Community College District (including the College of San Mateo, Canada College and Skyline College). PLS also receives support from the state California Library Services Act funds, federal Library Services and Technology Act and local contracts for special services.
Most libraries have senior resources such as printed copies of the Senior Mobility Guide, Help at Home directory, Community Information Handbook, transit maps and schedules, as well as librarians who can help connect you with additional local resources.
